FAQ

Asked a lot

The questions that come up before most bookings. If yours is not here, call or text and you will get a real answer from one of us.

Space and setup

How much space is needed for a mobile golf simulator?

Golf to Go Events needs a flat area 13 feet wide, 20 feet long and 13 feet tall for one simulator, indoors or outdoors, plus a standard power outlet. The pop-up tent itself is 12 x 16 x 10 feet, and the rest is room to stand, swing and walk around it. Two simulators side by side need roughly double the width, about 26 feet by 20 feet. A courtyard, a corner of a parking lot, a cultural hall, a garage or a backyard all work.

Does a mobile golf simulator need power?

Yes, one standard outlet. We do not carry a generator, so a spot with no power will not work. Tell us where the outlet is when you book and we will plan the setup around it.

Does a mobile golf simulator need Wi-Fi?

No. Our simulator does not need Wi-Fi, but the spot does need some cell service.

What happens if it rains?

The tent is waterproof, but we do not run the simulator in the rain. If it starts raining lightly after we are set up, we move our electronics out of the rain and stay a little while to see if it clears. If it does, we get right back to it. If it is raining and there is no adequate indoor space, we shut down. Name a covered backup when you book, such as a cultural hall, a garage or any covered space with 13 feet of ceiling clearance. We watch the forecast ahead of your date and talk through the plan with you.

What type of equipment and tech does Golf to Go use?

A premium, waterproof pop-up tent along with a Garmin R10 launch monitor, plush turf hitting mat, and a wide range of clubs. Titleist Pro V1 RCT golf balls are used; the radar-reflective markers built into these balls are what let the Garmin R10 read spin and launch data more accurately than standard golf balls.

Beginners and guests

Can complete beginners play mobile golf?

Yes, and they play right alongside people who golf every week. Our minigames feel like Wii Sports with real-time data, so they are approachable instead of intimidating, and a first-timer and a weekly golfer enjoy the same game. We run the simulator, coach anyone who has never held a club, and keep the rotation moving. We have hosted players from age 2 to 80 and up.

How many people can play at a mobile golf simulator event?

It depends on how you want guests to play. For a big crowd, we rotate guests through a quick game like Closest to the Pin, and one simulator gets through about 100 people an hour. For a small party with lots of playing time, 5 to 15 people is a good fit for one simulator, so everyone gets to hit many times. One person hits inside the tent at a time while everyone else watches, cheers and rotates in. For very large groups, such as community events and large corporate retreats, two simulators double how many people get a turn.

What games can guests play?

Guests can play minigames (Wrecking Ball, Shark Splash, Boat Blast and Get in the Hole) and skill games (Closest to the Pin and Longest Drive). Full golf courses are also available to play, including real courses such as the Blue Monster at Doral and the West Course at Wentworth, plus nine-hole courses designed for simulator play. The minigames are the crowd favorite because they are fast, loud and competitive, and they work equally well for adults and kids.

Is a mobile golf simulator safe for guests and kids?

Yes. Safety was a top priority when we chose our simulator, and its safety features are built into the enclosure by the manufacturer rather than added afterward. The impact screen sits forward with no crossbar along the bottom, which cuts down on balls bouncing back, netting lines the inside side walls, and a second net hangs behind the screen. A slice or a poor hit occasionally sends a ball on an odd path, but it is not common, and we run the bay the whole time.

How long does a game on a golf simulator take?

A minigame or a skill game like Closest to the Pin takes a few minutes, which is why a big group keeps cycling through instead of standing in line. Playing a full golf course takes much longer, so that option suits a small group that wants plenty of playing time.

What are chipping boards (golf cornhole)?

Chipping boards are our handmade target games, often called golf cornhole. Each board is our own design, with three offset holes, the largest at the bottom and the smallest at the top. Guests take turns chipping a ball at a board and score points the way you would in cornhole. They are a $100 add-on to any booking, and they run next to the simulator so people are playing even when they are not in the tent. No golf experience needed.

Will you be present to help troubleshoot any issues?

Yes, present for the entirety of the event. We fully operate the simulator, so no tech or golf background is required from the client. Golf to Go provides professional setup and takedown, teaches beginners, manages gameplay, and cheers on everyone.

  • A waterproof pop-up tent and screen
  • A Garmin R10 launch monitor and Titleist Pro V1 RCT balls
  • A plush turf hitting mat and a full range of clubs

Are you insured?

Yes. Golf to Go Events carries commercial general liability insurance of $1 million per occurrence and $3 million in aggregate. A certificate of insurance is available upon request.

Do you require a deposit to hold a date?

Yes, 50% of your total holds the date. The balance is due 7 days before your event, and the whole thing comes on the personalized invoice we send once your event details are confirmed.

How far in advance should we book?

As soon as your date is set. Summer weekends, holiday party season and game days in Provo fill up first. For corporate events, a few weeks out is safest.

How do I book a golf simulator experience?

Visit the Book Now page, or call, email, or text. Golf to Go responds ASAP, then sends a personalized invoice to make sure all event needs are met.

Branding and travel

Can you add our company logo or branding to the setup?

Yes, as an option, for a corporate event, a trade show or a wedding. Your banner replaces the front banner of our enclosure, and branding goes there only. Bring your own banner, or we can have one printed for you at cost.

How far do you travel in Utah?

We are based in Provo and serve Utah County and Salt Lake County. A travel fee applies to events roughly 30 minutes or more from Provo, so it may apply in Salt Lake County. The exact amount is on your invoice before you pay anything.

How is Golf to Go Events different from other Utah mobile golf simulator companies?

We are an owner-run business, and an owner is at every event. A few things set us apart:

  • Minigames that feel like Wii Sports with real-time data, equally engaging for adults and kids
  • Two simulators available for very large groups
  • One published price for everyone. A wedding or a large company pays the same rate as a birthday party.
  • A professional setup: commercial-grade PVC tarpaulin that stays wrinkle-free after travel, crisp logo graphics, tidy cords with nothing to trip over, and a host in uniform
  • Safety built into the enclosure by the manufacturer, with a forward impact screen, side wall netting and a net behind the screen
  • Optional custom branding on the front banner: bring your own, or we print one at cost

Other companies fit different events, so we wrote an honest comparison.

About the simulator

What is a golf simulator?

A golf simulator lets you hit a real golf ball into a screen and play virtual golf. A launch monitor tracks each shot, and software shows the ball flying down a real course or through a minigame. A mobile golf simulator is the same setup brought to your event: ours is a pop-up tent with the screen, hitting mat and a radar launch monitor inside, set up and run by us.

What are the benefits of having a golf simulator at my event?

Whether you're aiming to draw more people to your tradeshow booth or entertaining hangry wedding guests, Golf to Go's event experiences provide instant engagement for players and onlookers alike. Golf simulators are refreshingly unexpected, hands-on fun, perfect for creating a party that no one will forget.
